2025 Update
Good afternoon all! Here is some information about the 2025 Guidelines release straight from AHA. There is no action needed at this time on your part. We will keep you up to date on anything that you need to address. This is just for your information.
As we prepare for the launch of the 2025 American Heart Association Guidelines for CPR and ECC on October 22, 2025, we want to ensure you're equipped with everything you need to navigate this transition smoothly—especially since this will be the first Guidelines release happening inside the Atlas platform.
Below is an overview of what to expect, what is changing, and what actions you’ll need to take with regards to provider classes in the coming months. More information regarding Instructor classes (Instructor Essentials for new Instructors) and Instructor cards will be provided in a later communication.
What is Changing
Starting October 22, Atlas will support both 2020 and 2025 courses—but with clear distinctions. All 2020 course titles will include “2020” as a suffix, while new 2025 courses will simply use the standard course title without a suffix.
When you create classes on or after October 22, please keep in mind the following date restrictions depending on whether the provider class is following 2020 or 2025 Guidelines. This ensures clarity in planning and record keeping for both course versions.
Additionally, there will be date restrictions in Atlas to help support a smooth transition:
2020 provider classes cannot be dated afterFebruary 28,2026
2025 provider classes cannot be dated beforeOctober 22, 2025
What You Need to Do
From now through February 28, 2026: You’ll need to finalize or cancel all open 2020 provider classes and rosters. This ensures your students receive their valid 2020 eCards before that version retires.
Special Note: Any 2020 provider classes that are still open after February 28 at 11:59pm CT will automatically be canceled in the system.
Beginning October 22: This is go-time! You’ll be able to create provider classes aligned with the new 2025 Guidelines. Both 2020 and 2025 products and eCards will be available in Atlas.
Please be sure to date any 2025 Guidelines provider classes October 22 or later—provider classes scheduled earlier than that cannot be designated under the 2025 Guidelines.
Why This Is Important
This transition ensures students are trained using the most current science and that records stay accurate and compliant. The Atlas platform will not automatically transition—so it’s important that action is taken.
If you have any questions or need help, please check out additional resources on the Atlas Information and Resources | American Heart Association CPR & First Aid, the AHA Instructor Community - AHA Instructor Community (log-in required), and the PAM | American Heart Association CPR & First Aid.
We’re here to support you through this process and will continue to send emails with additional information regarding Atlas and Guidelines as we approach October 22, 2025. Thank you for all that you do to support high-quality training and a smooth transition to the 2025 Guidelines!
